I am so ripped apart about coming to the library on Monday nights, I do love the idiot box tonight. I will just give a little, and must finish my work.
I had a BLAST on Friday night. I seem to be, always, the person to get others together. We had a great group of guys. Having to work that evening at the theater I told them to start around 9:30, they started at 7:30. I was not happy. I did get off around 9ish, and raced across town to meet up with them at this little dive. The night did not disappoint. Having been here since September, and being able to count how many times I have been out socially, I tend to get excited. Let us just say that I found my happy place, followed by the place that remembers that they have to work 12+ hours the next day. I got to Saturday school late, and one kid was dead on - Mr. Ryding, did you get in a fight last night? No. Mr. Ryding, are you hung over?.......No, why do you ask? You do not look so good. I said it was allergies. Today the kid told everyone that I had gotten into a fight the night before.....
Thanks for the note C.S.
This week is going to be a killer!! The students are not clamping down, and grades are going in the book Friday!! I finally had enough with one student, and sent her to the office. I got the class started and told them I would be a few minutes, AND if when I came back they were not working I had enough to go around. I know, I try and sound tough. I went to the office and open a can on this student. So much so that the Assistant Principal came over, and turn the light on where we were. I looked at her and said,"Please turn the light back off, I am not as scary with the light on."
My mother got the chocolates today, and loved them!! Another added bonus was that today is my father's birthday. If I am right, he would have been 65ish. It has been interesting speaking with my family again. I am such a better place, and am open to the things that are starting to happen. I forgot to tell my mother this evening that she needed to plow through the chocolates, because that is what dad would have done. That man would go through a bag of fun size snickers like it was a race. Writing that makes me think of the afternoon that my brother, brother-in-law and I had cleaning out his car the week after his death. Pretty sure if there was a sledge hammer around there would have been nothing left, but I do remember the wrappers and apple cores.
Happy Birthday dad, I continue to think about you and miss your guidance.

thinking of you, mr. mayor.
What?? They started the fun before Davey was there? Don't they know better?? They clearly didn't realize what a momentous occasion this was for the Mayor. Rookies.
Nice work with the chocolates for Karen too... glad to hear things are turning around with the family.
Would love to hear the "not a fight" story some time; maybe that's not broadcast material.
Hint to the author: respond to your public when they ask for pictures! ;)
